Study O Portable is a designing practice for accessories and other portable objects based in London, founded by Bernadette Deddens (the Netherlands) and Tetsuo Mukai (Japan) in April 2009.
Their work evolves around the idea of portability and question of functionality in objects. They take great interest in the methods of designing just as much as the resulting work and often choose a simple but considered production process and material.
They met while studying at ArtEz in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
Bernadette graduated from Design Products Royal College of Art in 2006 and has since worked as an independent accessories designer and consultant. She is a visiting lecturer at London College of Fashion. She looks for practical emotional functions in objects that we carry around.
Tetsuo has a background in fashion design and worked in London and Paris.
He investigates alternative ways to design objects.
